| German Prayer Book dated 1521 from Augsburg. The text of 8 Bernard Verses follow this Amplexus image. Bernard in black cowl, tonsured and nimbed, his arms at the foot of the Cross. The owner, Matthaeus Schwarz is shown kneeling on left bottom. Inscription below has BERNHART and initials NR (the illuminator N Renner) on the left and the date 1521 on the right. |
