Description
Cistercian Breviary dated 1460-1470 from the abbey of San Salvatore a Settimo near Florence. Within initial P(erfice) for the feast of Bernard a Doctrina image with a nimbed Bernard in a white cowl kneeling at a desk writing in a book and looking up at a small figure of ther Virginin the sky. A further image in the lower right has a half figure nimbed in white cowl with a book in the right hand within the initial A(d) from the sermon of St Ambrose.
