One of twelve early fifteenth-century images from the life of Bernard in the chapel dedicated to him at Owen in Wuerttemberg, of which fragemnts of eleven remain. Bernard lies on his deathbed wearing mitre and eucharistic vestments and carrying a crozier. A group of monks witness the scene. An officiating priest wearing a stole carries a large candle in his left hand and an aspergillum in his right hand. Another monk is carrying a processional cross. The two objects under Bernard are probably cloth bands used to lower him into the ground - there would have been a third on the right. See also WA39-WA48.
