One of twelve early fifteenth-century images from the life of Bernard in the chapel dedicated to him at Owen in Wuerttemberg, of which fragments of eleven remain. Depicts the story of Humbeline's visit to Clairvaux. She is seen in her finery riding and accompanied by a male rider and another woman. The nimbed figure on top of a castellated building is Bernard who had at first refused to see his sister. See also WA39-WA43 & WA45-WA49. |
