Description:
One of twelve early fifteenth-century images from the life of Bernard in the chapel dedicated to him at Owen in Wuerttemberg, of which fragments of eleven remain. Only the lower half of this image belongs to the Bernard cycle. It is impossible to interpret this. All that can be seen is the lower half of a figure - Bernard - who may be carrying a crozier and another item - a book? On the left are rocks and a tree perhaps similar to those in the author portrait (WA45) and very much like those in the Palma altarpiece portrait (PA014). See also WA39-WA40 & WA42-WA49.
