Description:
Crucifixion scene painted by Fra Angelico in 1441-2 for the Chapter House of the Dominican Convent of St Mark, Florence. On the left of the Cross are Christ's family and friends, on the right later saints, among them Bernard. His white tunic and grey scapular may be seen under his white cowl. From the left kneeling are Sts Dominic, Jerome, Francis, Bernard, John Gualbert, and Peter Martyr, and standing Ambrose, Augustine, Benedict, Romuald, and Thomas Aquinas.
