Description:
Fresco in the Chapter House of the Cistercian abbey of Cestello in Florence from the first decade of the sixteenth century attributed to the School of Perugino. Christ has detached his arms from the cross. They hang down in the direction of the kneeling figure of Bernard whose hands are raised up to meet Christ's. A scull and bones are at the foot of the Cross, and the scene is a rocky landscape with a town with towers and spires in the background. Compares with its source, Perugino's Crucifixion in the same church (see WA28). See also DR18.
