Description:
One of nine frescos depicting scenes from the life of Bernard from 1482 in the Chapel of St Bernard, Pamparato. According to legend the statue of Mary came alive on two occasions, at Afflighem and at Speyer, when Bernard was in prayer before it. Here he points out the statue to two of his monks. As Bernard got to the end of the 'Salve Regina', Mary came alive and answered 'Salve Bernarde'. The inscription reads: 'M.V. SALTA SAN BERNARDO'. Bernard has 'tuft'. See also WA13-20.
