Painted in 1511 this wall painting is in poor condition, and it is only just possible to ascertain that this represents an Amplexus scene, Christ coming down from the cross and embracing a kneeling Bernard in a dark grey cowl. It is in the chapel of St Bridget of Vadstena, among portraits of a number of other saints including Augustine, Ursula, Jerome, Margaret, Laurence, Gregory, Ambrose, and Christopher. There is only one other Bernard image in the very large number of medieval wall paintings in Danish churches (see WA1).
