Description:
Velvet Chasuble embroidered with gold thread in the early fifteenth century and which previously belonged to the Cistercian abbey of Altenberg. The figures of Christ, John the Baptist and St Peter are embroidered on the orphrey on the back while the Virgin and Child and Bernard are on the front. Bernard is nimbed, has a crozier in his right hand and a book in his left. The arms of the donors Duke Reinhard of Geldern and Juelich (+1423) and his wife Maria von Harcourt are interspersed with the figures.
