Description:
Embroidery in silk on linen from the former Cistercian nuns' abbey of Tiefenthal dated c 1430. Bernard in a white cowl stands within an arch. He has a red halo, carries a crozier in his right hand and a book in his left. The inscription reads 'katterina de altavilla', the name of the abbess (Katharina von Eltville).
