Description:
One side of what was probably an embroidered processional banner from the end of the fifteenth century from Cologne or possibly the Netherlands, the other side representing the Magi. Gold and silk thread on linen. Bernard with a crozier leaning on his left shoulder and hands clasped in prayer kneels before the Virgin and Child. The Virgin bares her breast in a Lactation scene in a room with windows at the back through which the church at Clairvaux may be seen.
