Description:
The two statues of Jerome on the right and Bernard on the left are placed on either side of the twin doors of the chapter house constructed between 1517 and 1518 by the stonemason Rodrigo de Pontezilha in early Renaissance style at the Jeronimos Abbey of Santa Maria at Belem, Lisbon. Bernard has a crozier in his right hand and a book in his left. Jerome was the patron of the abbey.
