Description:
Carving of Bernard dated to c 1500 on one gable end of the choir stalls in the Cistercian church of Zinna. A companion carving of St Benedict adorns the other side of the choir. While Bernard is shown in the traditional way with a crozier in his right hand and a book in his left, St Benedict in a black cowl has no crozier but an open book in one hand to which he points with the other. Bernard's cowl is white with a black top and sleeves, but this is no doubt due to a modern re-painting.
