Polychrome wooden figure of Bernard with a book in his right hand and a crozier in his left from an altarpiece from the end of the fifteenth century, part of an altarpiece with Christ enthroned in the centre, flanked by the Virgin and Bernard. Because of the choice of Bernard, and the fact that Breitscheid is only some 30 kilometres from Marienstatt, plus that the same artist was responsible for the tomb of Count Gerhard von Sayn at Marienstatt, it is thought likely that the altarpiece was originally intended for Marienstatt. Bernard's cowl is white but with a black tunic or scapular underneath. Bernard has a 'tuft'
