Description:
Marble statue by Mino da Fiesole (b. 1430/1, d. Florence 1484) in the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore, Rome, next to a companion statue of St Jerome. A youthful-looking, nimbed Bernard holds a book in his left hand and a chain in his right. This goes down behind him and to the other side at the end of which a small devil is attached.
