Description:
Painted by Girolamo del Pacchia 1525/30 tempera on wood for the Church of St Cristoforo, Siena. The enthroned Virgin holds the naked Child holding an orb. The figure on the right with a long beard and wearing a white cowl has often been identified as St Romuald, but the small devil on a chain at his feet makes it Bernard. He is nimbed and holds a book in both hands.
