Description:
Painting by Paolo de Sancto Leocadio dated c 1500 and known as the Virgin of the knights of Montesa. The Virgin with naked Child is seated in the centre. On the left St Benedict looks down at an open book (his Rule), while on the right Bernard in a white cowl has a crozier in his left hand and his right hand is on the shoulder on the smaller kneeling figure of a knight of Montesa with his hands clasped in prayer. Bernard has 'tuft'.
