Description:
The retable of San Ildefonso in Osma Cathedral painted by the Master of Osma in c 1460 has a Lactation scene. A nimbed Bernard with hands folded in prayer and with his crozier with attached sudarium under his right arm, kneels before the much smaller figure of the Virgin, alone, standing on an altar on which a candle is burning. She presses her right breast with her right hand and a jet of milk flows in a straight line to Bernard's mouth. Bernard has 'tuft'.
