Description:
One of six scenes from the life of Bernard, or more accurately a devotional image, flanking the central figure of Bernard in a Florentine altarpiece from c 1430. The Virgin appears in the sky accompanied by two saints to Bernard kneeling before a desk at which he is writing. The scene is witnessed by a Cistercian monk. See also PA114-8 & PA120.
