Description:
One of six scenes from the life of Bernard flanking the central figure of Bernard in a Florentine altarpiece from c 1430. While ill in bed he is visited by the Virgin. This may refer to the story in the Vita Prima, although there Mary was accompanied by Saints Laurence and Benedict. The scene is witnessed by two Cistercian monks. See also PA114-116 & PA118-20.
