Description:
One of two remaining panels from a Catalan altarpiece featuring scenes from the life of Bernard (see also PA110). Bernard kneels down on a rocky coastline before the ship that was to ferry him across. According to William of St Thierry the ship went out to sea before Bernard could board it. It returned, but again he was unable to board. This happened three times and finally the ship sailed away and did not return. He thereby understood that his time was not yet up.
