Description:
One of two remaining panels from a Catalan altarpiece with scenes from the life of Bernard (see also PA111).
This one shows the story by Arnald of Bonneval in Book 2 of the Vita Prima of how Bernard exorcised a woman from Aquitaine who had been tormented by the devil. A bearded and nimbed Bernard in a white cowl, accompanied by one of his monks, stretches out his hands towards a kneeling woman who is being supported by another woman behind her. A small devil is seen coming out of the woman's mouth. The scene takes place in a room and is witnessed by three other women. Bernard has 'tuft'.
