Description:
A Lactation painting from the second half of the fifteenth century of half-figures of Bernard kneeling in prayer with his crozier with sudarium under his right arm before the Virgin and Child. The Virgin, seated against a damask hanging, bares her breast which she squeezes with her left hand. Through a window behind Bernard is a landscape with a church on a hill on the horizon. Above Bernard is a scroll with 'Monstra te esse matrem'. Probably a Cistercian abbot portrait. Bernard has 'tuft'.
