Description:
The triptych of the Antwerp School dated c. 1500 in the Cistercian Nuns' Church at Roermond in the Netherlands has the Crucifixion in the centre. The reverse of the left wing is a Lactation scene, of the right wing the Coronation of the Virgin. Bernard kneels in a church before the seated Virgin and Child. The Virgin bares her right breast which she squeezes with her right hand. Above Bernard is the inscription 'Monstra te esse matrem'. Two Cistercian monks are in the background. See also SC50.
