Description:
Tabernacle in the form of a niche with a pointed arch resting on a horizontal plinth. Painted by Paolo di Stefano c 1440. Main panel the Virgin seated on a cushion with black mantle over red robe with gold edge, white veil turns to naked Child on her knee, below is a funeral scene of a brother of the Confraternity of Flagellants. On left of niche St Francis in grey-brown below and St Mary Magdalene in red mantle holding vase above. On right St Jerome in white tunic below and above Bernard (26.3x8.6) in white with a red book and crozier in right hand. In the soffit of the arch above are two music-making angels.
