Description:
Altarpiece of the Glorification of the Virgin painted c 1470 for the Church of St Bridget, Cologne. The Virgin with Child is seated on a throne in the heavens surrounded by angels, two of them holding a crown over her head. She is flanked by God the Father on the left and the Holy Spirit on the right, each also surrounded by angels. A large group of female saints headed by Catherine on the left and male saints headed by John the Baptist on the right complete the composition.
