Description:
Triptych of the Coronation of the Virgin and Saints painted in 1394 as indicated on the inscription on the base of the central panel by a Florentine painter. The inscription also states that it was made with what the uncle of Alderottus, Silvester, left for the redemption of his soul. Hence St Sylvester is portrayed on the left panel with Bernard, while St Nicholas and St Julian the Hospitaller are shown on the right panel. The central scene shows Christ crowning the Virgin and below angel musicians. Above is a medallion with a bust of Christ, and above the two side panels medallions with prophets. The names of the saints are inscribed on the frame at the base, that of Bernard as S[an]c[tu]s BERNARDUS ABB[as].
