Description:
Small altarpiece with shutters painted c 1530 by the Master of the Female Half-Lengths. The Virgin sits in the centre with her naked Child on her knees. She bares her breast towards a kneeling Bernard on the left wing. Bernard is wearing a white cowl, his crozier leans against his right shoulder, his hands are folded in prayer and an open book lies on a bench before him. A similar image of Benedict is on the right wing. He is wearing a black cowl, is also kneeling, his hands folded in prayer, his crozier leaning against his shoulder, and an open book on the bench before him.
