Description:
Full-page miniature in an early sixteenth-century Flemish Book of Hours with a nimbed Bernard in a white cowl kneeling, his hands outstretched towards a smaller figure of Christ on a crucifix hanging on the wall of a chamber. Bernard's crozier lies on the ground. Through a door on the right a red alcove bed may be seen. On the left is a door to a light church with a nimbed Cistercian monk (again Bernard?) kneeling before a statue. The border has a lady with a unicorn, a hound, a bird, and flowers. Christ's arms are not detached from the crucifix and it is therefore not an Amplexus image. Compare with MA087.
