Description:
The Sigmaringer Prayerbook in German made in Bruges or Antwerp c 1515. Bernard in a white cowl has a crozier in his right hand and in his left hand he holds a chain at the end of which is a brown demon at his feet. Behind Bernard is a wall with a gate with a gate house above and a church on the other side of the wall. The border has naturalistic flowers on a gold ground. The facing page has a prayer in German prefaced by text saying that a devout recital of the prayer would gain 300 days' indulgence.
