Description:
Above a prayer in Dutch in a Book of Hours from the second decade of the sixteenth century there is a miniature of the Virgin with naked Child sitting on an elaborate Gothic throne which is surrounded by six angels on each side. She bares her breast which she squeezes with her left hand in the direction of the smaller figure of a youthful Bernard kneeling, nimbed, wearing a white cow and with his hands folded in prayer, his golden crozier leaning against his right shoulder.
