Description:
Miniature of a nimbed Bernard in eucharistic vestments standing before an altar upon which is a chalice. He is looking up and his hands are folded in prayer. Behind him is a kneeling monk with his hands folded in prayer. It is dated 1396 and is from the fourth book of the 'Mirror of History' by Vincent de Beauvais translated to French by Jean de Vignay as indicated by the text at the beginning (f 1r): 'Cy commence la quarte partie du miroir hystorial translate en francais par frere Jehan du vignay selon la compocicion frere vincent'. There is another image of Bernard on f 210r (MA407).
