Description:
One of seven miniatures in an incomplete late fifteenth century Book of Hours introducing the 7 Verses, the text of which is on f 1v & f 2r. Below the text in red introducing the Verses ('Septem versus sancti bernardi') the standing figure of a youthful nimbed Bernard dressed in white tunic and black scapular holds a chain in both hands at the end of which is a large standing horned devil. The scene is a panelled room with a window on the left.
