Description:
A Book of Hours produced in Paris in 1420-30 has a miniature in the decorated margin at the beginning of the 7 Verses of Bernard (f 163v-164v) introduced by the following text in red: 'Cy sont les VII vers saint bernard'. Bernard is depicted nimbed and standing, wearing a brown cowl and with a gold crozier with a large volute in his right hand and a book in his left. A small donor figure in red kneels at his feet holding a bandarole containing the first words of the Verses 'Illumina oculos meos'.
