Description:
Historiated initial in an Antiphonary painted by Nikolaus Bertschi in 1531 for the Cistercian abbey of Kaisheim. Within a red and green border and the decorated rosa initial 'A' the lifeless body of the cross-nimbed Christ with a green crown of thorns with arms detached from a T-Cross is supported from below by the standing figure of Bernard in a black cowl. The INRI inscription is above the cross. Bernard has 'tuft'.
