Description:
Miniature in a fiftenth-century Roman Breviary known as the breviary of Ercole I d'Este. A half-figure of a youthful nimbed Bernard in a black cowl is within the initial P(erfice quaesumus Domine), the prayer for the feast of Bernard in the Office and also the Collect at Mass. One of two images of Bernard in this manuscript - see also MA376.
