Description:
A Book of Hours in Latin and French from Paris dated the 1460's has, among the Suffrages, a miniature with a nimbed Bernard sitting on a high-backed seat writing. The white dove by his ear indicates that he is writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. He is wearing a black cowl over a white tunic and a grey cap. An elaborately carved table in front of him has an open book and piece of parchment containing writing, all witnessing to his importance as an author.
