Description:
Book of Hours in Latin and French from Valenciennes or Cambrai dated c 1480. One of 36 miniatures shows a nimbed Bernard in white tunic and black scapular standing in a chamber at the opening of the text 'Illumina oculos meos' of the 8 Verses of Bernard. He has an open book in his right hand below which the miniature has been defaced where there undoubtedly had been a devil at his feet as was usual in illustrations of his Verses.
