---|
One of six cuttings from a choir-book with miniatures dated c 1520. Flemish or German with script and notation Germanic, and some resemblance to Duerer suggests possible Nuremberg provenance. Amplexus image framed by grey stone pilasters in an open landscape. A nimbed Bernard in a black cowl is supporting a pale Christ with arms detached from the T-Cross who bends down to embrace him. The Cross has the inscription INRI. Bernard's crozier leans against a pillar on the right. |
