Description:
Part of the Litany of Saints in a manuscript containing Psalter, Calendar, & Litany probably written for the Duchess of Breslau between 1259 and 1266 by a German scribe and with illustrations by three hands in Italianate manner. Among the two rows of saints Bernard is the fourth from the bottom on the left. He is portrayed as a half-figure in a grey cowl with a book in his right hand and a crozier in his left. He is mentioned after St Dominic, St Francis, St Anthony, and St Benedict.
