Description:
Bernard? The Shepherds illustrating Terce in the Hours of Yolande of Flanders. Four angels holding scrolls stand in the background. In the foreground four shepherds (one playing a pipe) with their sheep, a dog and a tree. Two more shepherds with sheep are within the initial 'D'.The lower margin portrays the procession to Calvary with the blacksmith's wife on Golgatha on the right at the foot of which are two skulls and other bones. Her husband with a hammer in his left hand turns and beckons Christ, followed by St John and four women. In the outer margin, top left, is a Cistercian monk, probably Bernard, nimbed and in a white cowl holding a book and St Fiacre with a brown scapular over a white tunic. Below, St Martin on horseback dividing his cloak with a beggar. On the right, St Stephen in dalmatic, and, below, St George on horseback.
