Description:
Historiated miniature in a French Book of Hours in Latin from the second half of the fifteenth century within the opening initial I(llumina oculos meos) of the Eight Verses of Bernard interspersed with the O Antiphons. A nimbed Bernard in a white tunic and black scapular holds a large grey demon on a chain in his left hand while his right hand is raised in a gesture of exorcism. The background is a rocky landscape.
