Description:
Book of Hours (Use of Rome) in Latin and French from Burgundy dated c 1485 with 8 large and 14 small miniatures. In one of the full-page miniatures a kneeling donor nun in a black habit is presented to the Virgin by a nimbed Bernard in a white cowl standing behind her. Bernard has a crozier in his right hand while his left hand rests on the donor. The Virgin is seated with the naked Child under a canopy. Her right breast is bared and she squeezes it so that three jets of milk go in the direction of Bernard. The border is decorated with stylized leaves and flowers and two coats of arms.
