Description:
One of five images of Bernard in a French version of the Golden Legend from c 1500 made for Jane of Burgundy, daughter of Robert, 2nd duke of Burgundy. A standing Bernard, nimbed and with a gold crozier in his left hand, looks down at a group of kneeling men with their hands clasped and points to the figire of Christ on the Cross on the right. There is another miniature with Bernard on the same folio (MA339) - see also MA336-7 and 340.
