Description:
Antiphonary dated c 1300 (before 1318) from the Cistercian abbey of Morimondo. Within the initial P(rima virtus viri sancti) from the Office for the feast of Bernard, the three-quarter figure of a standing nimbed and bearded Bernard in a white cowl is depicted on the right with a book in his left hand and with his right hand raised in blessing a group of seven tonsured monks in white habits on the left. This compares closely with another earlier miniature from the same abbey (see MA292).
