In an English manuscript dated the third quarter of the thirteenth century of Pope Gregory the Great, Peter of Blois, and Bernard's 'De consideratione' whose origin is unknown but which was given to the Franciscans in York, perhaps by Simon Newton. Bernard's work is illustrated with five miniatures of Bernard and Eugenius III and one of Bernard writing. The red letters announce the beginning of Book 4 with the initial S(i mihi plenius innotuisset) - 'If I had been more fully aware of the manner in which you received the books previous to this one' - with Bernard on the right looking towards Eugenius on the left holding Bernard's work in his left hand and his right hand raised towards Bernard. Eugenius is wearing the pointed papal hat. See also MA283-5 and MA 287-8
