Description:
Gradual from the second quarter of the fourteenth century written in the Cistercian scriptorium of Settimo by the monk Vincentio Monoculo and decorated with many miniatures of saints, including Bernard on the folio which contains the decorated initial I(n medio ecclesie) from his feast with an image of St John Evangelist next to it. At the foot of the folio is a small circular medallion in which Bernard is seated enclosed in a round chair writing with a pen in his right hand and a knife in his left on a piece of parchment. Close to his face is a small white dove, the Holy Spirit inspiring him. He has a 'tuft'.
