Description:
Historiated initial S(alve Virgo pretiosa) in pale blue and rosa against a dark red ground above and dark blue below, in a Hymnal dated 1310-15 belonging to the Marian Confraternity attached to the Augustinians of the Holy Spirit. The upper half has a half-figure of the Virgin in red and with a blue mantle covering the head, looking down to a half figure of a bearded and nimbed Bernard looking up with his hands held out in awe. Before him is a lectern with an open book. Another image of Bernard is found in the same manuscript on f 110r - see MA263.
