A single leaf from a Prayer Book dated 1510/20 has a water colour and gold on parchment image of Bernard in a purplish grey cowl kneeling before the figure of Christ with his arms detached from a T-Cross and his body supported by Bernard. At the foot of the cross are the arms of Clairvaux and a gold mitre. Sometimes known as the Aldersbach Amplexus from the Cistercian abbey of that name, but there is no evidence to support this provenance. The woodcut attributed to Duerer and printed in 1503 by Hieronymus Hoelzel is thought to be the model for this (see EN36).
